Would you sit in a city phone booth for 24 hours? How about living in a Kings Cross tobacconist for a week, communicating with passers-by in written conversations on the glass?

Astra Howard is an artist who performs public actions such as these in urban public spaces. She discusses the politics of these spaces by creating novel mechanisms for interaction and conversation. Through this work, she has developed strong ties and relationships with the marginalised communities of people living on the streets of Sydney.
