What issues of concern affect designers and their practice and, likewise, how can design be used to affect these issues towards a positive outcome? Rod Bamford looks at how the world around us impacts on design and design process, and how designers can respond to these issues and work towards design solutions in their own practices.

Rod Bamford is a lecturer at the School of Design Studies, COFA. He works across the fields of sculpture and design, drawing on experience in the field of ceramics, digital processing technologies, polymers, and related media. Rod teaches in the areas of digital modelling & fabrication, ceramics, object design and sustainability. He aims to foster the development of creative models that integrate agile, sustainable practices that are scalable and adaptive to changing social and environmental conditions.

This interview was shot on Thursday 18th August, 2011 as part of COFA's Design Week Festival.
